2022.01.18 01:46 Taloir What settings have you discovered result in really unique outcomes?

For me, I just started playing with this thing today, but I love it and want to explore every inch.
Just now, I turned plant pellet energy all the way up, made sure they collided, minimized the collision threshold and turned up collision damage. Made life kinda hard for herbivores. I did notice babies latching onto their parents and eating them alive on occasion, I guess to avoid the collision damage as long as they cant spare the health. I'm thinking I might increase plant pellet spawn rates and size too. Then everybody would need to be super tactical so they dont run into things, but any specialized herbivores (should anything figure out how to safely eat the plants without killing themselves) would be able to tunnel through. Like an ant farm. Except that with the whole parasitic children thing, the fact that plant food is so readily available and that carnivores cant safely get around, I might end up with ancient giants carving their way through while their children stay attached for long periods of time. I'll have to test that hypothesis.
Could also be interesting to do the opposite too: turn collision totally off, toggle biting off, and minimize plant pellet value. But turn up thrown damage, and increase friction. Then I think there might be significant grazing herds staying together for safety against ranged predators. or maybe they'd just stay close to cannibalize each other as they starve. Either way, the social interactions could be quite the sight.

2022.01.18 01:46 ayokongsabihin Program has no errors but doesn't run. Shows "XX: ShowCodeDetailsInExceptionMessages" Instead

I'm writing a library system and I think there must be something wrong with the way I wrote it. It has 3 classes and 1 interface. The Ordered Collection interface is implemented by the CallNumbers class. The Dewey Decimal System class instantiates CallNumbers, and lastly, Library takes in DDS class as an object array. I don't know where it went wrong. I'm guessing it may be with the way I handled my exceptions but I don't know how to resolve this. My code is pretty long I'm sorry.

OrderedCollection interface

public interface OrderedCollection { void addElement(int element); void removeElement(int element); boolean isEmpty(); int size(); int getLeftCallNumber(int element); int getRightCallNumber(int element); int getCallNumber(int element); void displayCallNumbers(); }
CallNumbers class
import java.util.LinkedList; public class CallNumbers implements OrderedCollection { LinkedList callNums = new LinkedList<>(); public void addElement(int element){ if(callNums.size() < 100 && element < 1000){ callNums.add(element); selectionSort(callNums); System.out.println("Book with call number \"" + element + "\" added to library."); System.out.println(); }else{ System.out.println("Library capacity full."); System.out.println(); } } public void removeElement(int element){ if(callNums.size() > 0){ try{ callNums.remove(callNums.indexOf(element)); System.out.println("Book with call number " + element + " removed from library."); System.out.println(); }catch(Exception e){ System.out.println("Book with call number " + element + " not found."); System.out.println(); } }else if (callNums.size() == 1000){ System.out.println("Library capacity full"); System.out.println(); } else if (callNums.size() == 0){ System.out.println("Library empty"); } } public boolean isEmpty(){ if(callNums.size() == 0) return true; else return false; } public int size(){ return callNums.size(); } public int getLeftCallNumber(int element){ //1 - ref num not found //2 - left num not found //3 - empty if(callNums.size() > 0){ try { //reference num found callNums.get((callNums.indexOf(element))); } catch (IndexOutOfBoundsException e) { return 1; } //proceed to find left try{ //left num found int leftElement = callNums.get((callNums.indexOf(element) - 1)); return leftElement; }catch(IndexOutOfBoundsException e){ return 2; } }else{ return 3; } } public int getRightCallNumber(int element){ //1 - ref num not found //2 - right num not found //3 - empty if(callNums.size() > 0){ try { //reference num found callNums.get((callNums.indexOf(element))); } catch (IndexOutOfBoundsException e) { return 1; } //proceed to find right try{ //right num found int rightElement = callNums.get((callNums.indexOf(element) + 1)); return rightElement; }catch(IndexOutOfBoundsException e){ return 2; } }else{ return 3; } } public int getCallNumber(int element){ //1 - num doesn't exist //0 - class empty if(callNums.size() > 0){ try{ int callNum = callNums.get(callNums.indexOf(element)); return callNum; }catch(IndexOutOfBoundsException e){ return 1; } }else{ return 0; } } public void displayCallNumbers(){ System.out.println(callNums); System.out.println(); } public static void selectionSort(LinkedList list) { for (int i = 0; i < list.size() - 1; i++) { int min = i; for (int j = i+1; j < list.size(); j++){ if (list.get(j) < list.get(min)) min = j; } //swap list at min and list at i int temp = list.get(min); list.set(min, list.get(i)); list.set(i, temp); } } }
